Les Grands Romans Illustrés: Les Misérables
I 1947 French Comic Book I

This is a scanned online version of a comic book published in France in 1947. It appeared in serial form from May to August, for a total of fifteen issues. After Les Misérables was complete, the Grands Romans series continued with another serial story. The only information I could find online about the series is this page.

Aside from being an early comic book of Les Misérables, other cute or interesting features include short blurbs, some (as near as I can tell) about related topics, some about unrelated topics, and some that may be, in fact, jokes; an incomplete serialization of E.A. Poe's short story "The Murders in the Rue Morgue"; and a funny strip that morphs from "Les Aventures du Petit Reporter" to "Les Aventures de Gavroche" to "Les Misaventures de Javert."

When I set these pages up, I was using a laptop with one of those rectangular screens, so they will look best on rectangular (and not square) screens. I imagine few enough people will actually visit that it won't matter much.

I think it's reasonable to assume the comic book is out of copyright, as it was over sixty years old at the time that I scanned it. I could only find issues 4 to 15, which means this site is missing the first three issues. If anyone has or knows of a source for those missing issues (it's an extremely long shot), do please let me know.
