Old Town San Diego - The day I left the apartment in Imperial Beach I drove to Starr Ranch via two parks, Old Town State Historic Park, and Cabrillo National Monument. Old Town is north of present-day downtown, but it was the original site of the city. They have old buildings and shops there.
Point Loma and Cabrillo National Monument - Cabrillo National Monument is on Point Loma. It has some great views of the bay. Having spent so much time on the bay in a Zodiac made it more fun to take in the view from above.
Starr Ranch - After San Diego I visited Kaia at her workplace in an Audubon sanctuary in Orange County.
The Salton Sea - A strange place.
Cuyamaca Rancho State Park - After the weirdness of the Salton Sea, I went west to the oak chapparal area between the inland desert and the coastal desertlike areas.
Mission Trails Regional Park and San Diego Maritime Museum - I finally stopped at the lake part of Mission Trails on my last day in San Diego County and I drove by the sailing ships.
Vasquez Rocks - A county park home to strange rocks that was often used as a location for the various Star Trek series and movies.
Grauman's Chinese Theater - Aunt Jeanie and I went to Hollywood!
The Huntington Library - Aunt Jeanie and I went to the Huntington, a botanical garden and museum in Pasadena.
Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks - After leaving the L.A. area, I headed inland to see some big trees and beautiful mountains.
Yosemite National Park - I went to Yosemite after Sequoia.
Mono Lake - One day I drove to the east side of Yosemite and saw Mono Lake, which is a remarkably striking and strange place.
Bay Area 2009 - I visited Shelley and Leanna in Alameda after my stint in the national parks. Good times!

In and Around Arcata 2009 - I stayed at the Ralphs' and visited with them and Lauren over the Fourth of July. There were some very interesting celebrations taking place then.

Mount Rainier National Park - It was so foggy while I was there I never saw the mountain, but there were many wonderful wildflowers.
Washington to Wisconsin 2009 - I drove east through the Columbia River Gorge, stopped at Theodore Roosevelt National Park and Staples, MN, and arrived in Minneapolis to see Aunt Anne and family.
The International Crane Foundation - Aunt Anne and I stopped here on the way to Menomonee Falls. Very cool.
