"The Man in Black"

by Johnny Cash

as sung by Snape

Well, you wonder why I always dress in black,

Why you never see bright robes upon my back,

And why does my appearance seem to have a spiteful tone.

Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on.

I wear the black to match my lank and greasy hair,

Addin' to the effect of my dead-eyed stare.

I wear it for Sirius Black who has long paid for his crime,

But who I'd gladly toss in jail any time.

I wear the black for students I have failed,

Whose scholarly success that I've curtailed.

They never seem to grasp that Potions aren't potpourri,

Why you'd think I was talking just to Hermionie.

Well, I've met with Harry Potter, as you've heard--

With his streak of lightning scar he's much preferred.

But I'm always reminded of his dad's old Quidditch knack,

Forgiveness isn't for the man in black.

I wear it for the parents I don't miss,

Whose arguments showed me love's best to be dismissed.

I wear the black in mournin' for the man I could have been,

Though I'd make the same choices all again.

And I wear it for the hundreds who have died,

Believin' the Dark Lord was on their side.

I wear it for a Hogwarts headmaster who has died,

Believin' Severus Snape was on his side.

Well, there's things that I will never be I know,

And no one likes me anywhere I go,

But okay, it's better no one knows or guesses why I fight

Or ever catch me looking half contrite.

'Cause I'd hate to wear a rainbow every day,

Or tell the world that everything's okay,

'Cause Voldemort's returned and no one knows who I will back--

'Long as I'm around, I'm the man in black.

"A Man Named Black" ("A Boy Named Sue")

(several verses shorter than the original)

by Johnny Cash

as sung by Sirius Black

Well, I hit Azkaban in eighty-three,

And that didn't leave much hope for me,

Just my innocence and knowing my trial was crap.

Now I blame Peter 'cause he ran and hid,

But the meanest thing that he ever did

Was before he left, he stabbed James in the back.

Well, he must have thought that it was quite a plan,

And it showed he was Voldemort's left-hand man.

But I knew it was just a coward's attack.

Some dementor would come by and I'd get sad,

And I never grew up and that was bad--

I tell you, life ain't easy for a man named Black.

So I hatched my plan and when I was free,

I wanted to see how Harry would be,

And I was glad to find he was just like James.

But I'd made me a vow to the moon and stars

That despite the kid with the special scar

I'd kill me that man

Who went and blacked my name.

Well at the Shrieking Shack sometime in May

I'd just caught Peter and my temper was frayed

Harry wouldn't let me do what I had schemed.

Yeah Lupin was there and Snape too, and they

Had qualms and they got in my way.

Yeah, life ain't easy for a man named Black.

Well I knew that the real snake was Voldemort,

But the moon was full and Lupin's time was short,

And thanks to Harry I got away on Buckbeak's back.

Now I won't forget and if I can

Someday I will find that sneaky rat-man,

And I'll look at him and I'll say,

My name is Black, I made it back!

Now you're gonna die!

(Yeah that's what I'll tell him.)

So I sent Harry letters and I kept in touch,

But for a lonely guy that's not much,

And then I donated my house and I'm ready to crack.

See, I was young and smart but then I got framed

And I couldn't stop from being defamed,

Losing and wasting years stuck in jail that I can't get back.

Now I'm stuck inside, I can't even spy,

I just sit here, mope and poke Snape in the eye,

'Cause life ain't easy for a man named Black.

What can I do? What can I do?

My family's a mess, the Order won't use me,

I want to go fight and they just refuse me,

So I come away feeling there's something I lack.

And I think about Peter now and then,

Every time I want to help the Order win,

And if I find him again...

(spoken)

I'm going to hex him, curse him, make him pay--

Whatever I do!

I still hate that guy!

"Martin Guerre" / "You-Know-Who"

from Martin Guerre by Boublil and Schonberg

as sung by Fudge (end of GoF) and Voldemort

Fudge:

Look, it's You-Know-Who!

Horribly near, we'd better fear, Muggles are through.

Yes! It's You-Know-Who,

In a body at last, foes from the past better run too.

Plans murderous plans,

Laughs, kills right and left.

They all think he can't be the same

But by heaven they're sure to see there's more to You-Know-Who

Than a name.

Voldemort (sort of spoken):

And that child Harry

Holds my life in his hand.

He's no disciple of mine,

He cannot have my wand--

The wand fate planned him for.

I hope my Death Eaters find him

His chance of growing old is slim....

Fudge:

Look! It's You-Know-Who

I'll rant and rave, but who'll be brave, what can we do?

Yes! It's You-Know-Who

Back as a man, able to stand,

Not in a grave.

He's planned it all, he showed the Dark Mark,

And look! Look what he became

And by heaven they're sure to see there's more to You-Know-Who

Just look, look at what he became

By heaven they're sure to see there's more to You-Know-Who

Than a name!

a bit of "Into the Woods"

Ron:

Into the woods

I do regret,

The choice I made,

The task they set.

Into the woods,

But not forget--

Ting to avoid the spiders.

Into the woods,

To pay my dues,

I truly fear

The creatures here.

Ron:

Into the woods to do detention...

Draco:

Into the woods to do detention...

Hagrid:

Into the woods with Harry Potter...

Harry:

With Draco and Fang!

Hermionie!

To do detention? (spoken over Voldemort's part) How could you get in trouble like that!

Voldemort:

Into the woods where unicorns live!

Into the woods where unicorns live!

And then that's Voldemort singing Little Red's part and that's weird and I quit.

"Potter's Mom" ("Stacy's Mom")

by Foutains of Wayne

Sung by Snape

Potter's mom had got it goin' on

Potter's mom had got it goin' on

Potter's mom had got it goin' on

Potter's mom had got it goin' on

Lily, want to study by the lake (by the lake)

And see the potions I can make? (potions I make)

Did James get back from his Quidditch match? (Quidditch match)

Did you go or do you believe I'm a better catch? (a better catch)

You know, I'm not as greasy as I may seem to be.

I'd wash my hair now, baby can't you see.

Potter's mom had got it goin' on.

She was all I wanted and I waited for so long--

Lily could never see she was the girl for me.

Yeah, James thought it wrong, but I'm still in love with Potter's mom.

Potter's mom had got it goin' on

Potter's mom had got it goin' on

Lily, do you remember the times James attacked me? (attacked me)

His friends came out and laughed with glee. (with glee)

I could tell she liked me from the way she glared

And the way she shouted and told James he had erred.

And I know you think it was just my fantasy

But with a jerk like James, Lily could have used a guy like me.

Potter's mom had got it goin' on.

She was all I wanted and I waited for so long--

Lily could never see she was the girl for me.

Yeah, James thought it wrong, but I'm still in love with Potter's mom.

"Muggle Love"

to the tune of "Jungle Love"

by Steve Miller

sung by Arthur Weasley

It started when I was a child,

I thought Muggles were simply the best.

I collected their tools and their toys,

And never would give it a rest.

Some wizards just could not understand,

And some would never accept

Muggle love looking through trash, finding their treasures,

Seeking out more--I haven't stopped yet.

Muggle love, it drives my wife mad,

It's making her crazy.

Muggle love it's drivin' me mad,

It's makin' me crazy.

Then one day I found a "vehicle,"

I fell in love with its chrome.

Though my wife was certainly angry,

I just jinxed it and took it back home.

The problem with owning a car,

Especially one that can fly,

Ron and the twins hatched a scheme

And next thing they were seen--

Though I knew they would give it a try.

Muggle love, it drives my wife mad,

It's making her crazy.

Muggle love it's drivin' me mad,

It's makin' me crazy.

Now things have gotten more serious,

With Death Eaters and wizarding wars.

The Order and curses imperious

Keep me from my old Muggle chores.

So one day I hope it will end

And let me get back to once more

The gadgets I love, the ones I defend,

Those Muggles I simply adore.

Muggle love, it drives my wife mad,

It's making her crazy.

Muggle love it's drivin' me mad,

It's makin' me crazy.

Muggle love, it drives my wife mad,

It's making her crazy.

Muggle love it's drivin' me mad,

It's makin' me crazy.
