May 17 continued Just south of Yellowstone is Grand Teton National Park, and if you've heard a slightly off-color story about what the French explorers meant when they named the Grand Tetons...it's true.
The park suffers from being the thing you have to drive through in order to get out of Yellowstone if you're going south, so we just stopped a few times for some pictures. Here you can see the Tetons and some spring aspens in the foreground. Also at this stop were some cool yellow-headed blackbirds.
This is Jenny Lake. A ferry goes across it for access to hiking trails and sightseeing, which would be fun to do someday.
On the south of Grand Teton is Jackson, Wyoming, playground of famous people like Harrison Ford. Claire stopped to show me the cheesiest western bar ever: it sported saddles for barstools and must be seen to be believed. Once past Jackson, the road back to Idaho was very nice.
