El Road Trip to NYC and Thereabouts

Québec Pictures

You could see part of the wall on the left waaay back in one of the first pictures looking down on the city. This is the view of the back side of the Quartier Petit-Champlain or Lower Town, depending on how far you walk to the east. From this perspective, the river is directly behind you.

Turning around, you see...the St. Lawrence! What a surprise! And my %#^& camera strap again. Usually I am much better about this. I feel shamed.

Turning south a little, you can look up at the fortifications. The wall on the far left of the green hill is the part you walk along when you take the Promenade des Gouvrneurs. The rest of the wall that's more to the right is the wall you pass through when you go under the Porte Prescott.

Walking up the sidewalk a little ways, you get closer to the wall and you can see the Place Royal, which is that big building with the dome on top of the hill, looking over everything else.

Still in Basse-ville, looking up a street to reveal the looming Château Frontenac.

Looking down what is probably the Cote de la Montagne from its intersection with the Rue Notre-Dame, you can see where the river is in relation to the streets.

The view from the top of the Porte Prescott, looking north (because the Parc Montmorency is on the right).

The Parc Montmorency.

The "post office" mentioned before. The guy in the statue here is Laval.

And here we walk back past the back of the Notre Dame Cathedral and the seminary / university / parking lot. Note, it is definitely, for sure, a public parking lot.

Many of these fellows plied the streets, looking for hapless tourists to tote around.

A neat red-roofed building (not the Toit Rouge) across the square from the horses.

The intersection of Rue du Fort and Rue Sainte-Anne.

The front of the Château Frontenac. Somewhere in there is the Yo Slick.

The view from the parking garage, of a finance building.
